Amber Cove is one of the hottest cruise ship destinations in the Caribbean! Touring nearby Puerto Plata also has been very popular with Amber Cove visitors. The historic city was founded as the village of La Isabella in the late-1490s by Christopher Columbus and his brother, Bartolomé, and is the site of Fort San Felipe, the first fort built by European settlers in the New World.
The 1993 hit movie Jurassic Park was partially filmed in the Dominican Republic.
Join Billy on a 5 Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise
January 20-25, 2020
It’s never too early to start planning your trip to the Eastern Caribbean with Billy by reserving your cabin today! With sunshine 300 days a year and water temperatures averaging 80 degrees, there’s almost always a gorgeous day of sun and fun waiting for you in the Caribbean.
We will be departing from Ft. Canaveral, FL on Carnival Cruise Line’s Elation. Gospel music, worship, Bible study, gourmet dining, 24 hour pizza, two brand new ports of cal, and more! Cabins start as low as $599 per person based on double occupancy – one of the lowest prices out there for a Gospel music cruise!
The first thing you notice when we dock in Amber Cove is the beauty of the rolling hillsides of the Dominican Republic and the coastline dotted with palm trees. A concrete pier will lead us to the port from the ship. As we enter through the pier’s Caribbean Fortress entrance, you’ll find plenty of shops to stroll through set among many tropical plants, waterfalls and the island’s lush greenery. To the right you will find the cruise port’s 25 acre swimming pool area with plenty of sun loungers and private cabanas to enjoy a day of relaxation. On the hill overlooking the pool are ziplines that soar over the pool area and water slide that winds down through the complex.
Though hanging at the cruise port all day might be all the fun you’re looking for, sometimes you just feel a little adventurous. Carnival offers several excursions during our stop in Amber Cove.
